Educational project for teenagers and young adults in the town of Chichigalpa in Nicaragua, primarily for those from the most disadvantaged social classes in the poorest neighbourhoods of Chichigalpa. .
This project aims at training young people at skilled manual work in the areas of carpentry, metalworking and mechanics, and electrics related to solar technology. The goal is to enable teenagers and young people to become active in the field of infrastructure, including the home and the company. Acquiring a basic set of skills will enable them to find work, as independent tradesmen and/or small traders.
As a special target group, participants from the poorest social classes in Chichigalpa are to be selected, as a contribution to helping combat poverty. The goal is also to interest girls and young women in technical professions, and a minimum of 30% female participation is aimed at.
Participants are chosen together with the ASDECOSI (development aid organisation for the twinned towns of Wels and Chichigalpa), the Alcaldia (office of the town major), the Movimiento Comunal (community initiative of agricultural workers), the INATEC/APRODESE (Nicaraguan educational provider) as well as the CHICA (development aid office Nicaragua and Austria). CHICA has many years of experience in the implementation of training programmes in Nicaragua. The Inatec/Aprodese will provide state recognised certificates upon successful completion of training goals.
