Since 1996 21 'CHALLENGE LEONARDO - Programs' with more than 280 participants in France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy and Spain have been conducted.
Target Group:
Apprentices in their first vocational training, who live in Upper Austria and work there or visit a vocational school in Upper Austria.
Aims and focal points:
The priority of CHALLENGE LEONARDO-Programs is the improvement of employability and mobility of apprentices through the acquisition of additional vocational, language and intercultural competences and qualifications exceeding the previous training curriculum.
- Job-related learning This is achieved through the planning and realisation of plant visits, visits to educational institutions, practical trainings in companies, training workshops a. s. o. Furthermore the apprentices will gain information and insight in similar professions as well as training systems and contents of the respective target country.
- Foreign language and intercultural learning During the preparation in the inland native trainers will be involved as far as possible. The foreign language training abroad will be conducted in acknowledged language schools where the communicative competence in professional and everyday situations is mainly emphasised. Furthermore diverse contacts, homestay families as well as the realisation of individual tasks (e. g. interviews, research) contribute considerably to the improvement of language and intercultural competences. One further important aspect is the peripheral learning during the three-week stay.
CHALLENGE LEONARDO – Programs have a uniform concept, but differ according to the target countries, the participating occupational group and the resultant aspects.
The planning of mobility programs is carried out in cooperation with partners in the inland and abroad. The project contents depend on the participating occupational group, which guarantees adequate and practical course arrangements that meet the educational needs of the participants.
