Numercy in Practice

Short description: 

In recent years there is a growing demand from adult education providers in many European countries how to address the problem of low numeracy or more general how to address the needs from adults to improve their numeracy competences.

There is a wide-spread consensus that the problem of numeracy is underresearched and underdeveloped when compard to the investents in liertay education. In the PIAAC 2012 results it is clear that in many countries more people are hampered in their participation in the workforce and in their role as citizen to participate fully in nowadays society by low numeracy then bu low literay.

Aims:

  • To work on awareness of the problem that low numeracy poses form adults to actively and inclusively participate in nowadays society.
  • To increase the volume of adult numeracy courses and adult numeracy learning and teaching materials
  • To strengthen staff of the participating providers to address the numeracy problem in an adequate and effective way, based on recent developments and insights in scientific results.
